Throughout my career teaching public school instrumental music at all levels for 27 years, I was always disappointed in the lack of quality, original duets for young clarinet players that are not the same simple folk song duets found in most books. I am confident that these duets will fill that gap. They are also great for older beginning students, as you can see from the second review below. It gives the student a chance to work on tone, rhythm, and ensemble playing without the frustration of going over the break or playing in the upper register. It is listed in the NYS manual in Level 1The clarinet range throughout these duets remains under the break, from low G to third space Bb. I’ve made an effort to include a variety of styles throughout, and am very pleased with the result. All the duets are original, and will be fun to play for young students, or even older students just beginning clarinet. Each of the 15 duets is a page long. They start with no rhythm faster than quarter notes; eight notes and dotted eights are introduced gradually.
